So when Jack Stillman and Dick & Angel Strawbridge designed the Le Bistro Work Apron together, it needed to be more than something to protect your clothes.
It needed to be a proper working apron; robust, comfortable and rather lovely to wear.

Made from hard-wearing, water-repellent 8oz waxed cotton canvas, the Le Bistro Work Apron is designed for everything from everyday cooking and ambitious meals to barbecues, cocktail making and entertaining.
A divided chest pocket keeps pens, utensils and smaller essentials close at hand, while two generous lower pockets are perfect for everything from a tea towel to a favourite recipe or the tools of a busy bar.
Leather-trimmed pocket edges and brass rivets add strength where it's needed most, while an adjustable neck loop with brass snap buttons and long fabric waist ties make it comfortable to wear.
At 74cm wide × 84cm long, it provides excellent coverage without getting in the way of whatever delicious creation is underway.

The beauty of waxed cotton is that it doesn't demand to be treated preciously.
A splash, scrape, crease or mark simply becomes part of its character. Over time the fabric softens and develops a patina unique to the person wearing it, while re-waxing allows you to renew its water repellency and keep it working for years to come.
The leather details develop their own character too, while the brass fittings are chosen for their strength and longevity.
It's practical, substantial and intentionally made for real life.
