A Cape With a Story
The idea for The Perfect Cape began more than 15 years ago, when Dick's mum gave Angel a beautiful vintage cape as a present. Angel fell in love with its elegance, its wonderfully generous shape and the simple freedom of being able to throw it over whatever she was wearing.
It has been treasured ever since.
But there was always one thing missing, the ability to wear something just as elegant when the weather turned wet!
And Dick had his own ideas about what the perfect cape should be.
"I wanted a cape that would keep me warm and dry, with enough room to keep the dog sheltered too when the rain came down!” Dick

Working together with Jack Stillman, Dick & Angel have brought both ideas to life, combining the romance of a traditional cape with the practicality needed for real adventures outdoors.

Made from water-repellent 8oz waxed cotton canvas, The Perfect Cape is generously cut and designed as one size fits all.
Its flowing shape gives plenty of room for layers underneath while allowing you to move freely without your arms being confined by sleeves.
Two generous arm openings, complete with protective weather flaps, mean your hands are there when you need them, while a rear slit makes walking and sitting more comfortable. The wide removable hood gives extra protection when the weather really does decide not to cooperate.
Whether you're walking the dog, working in the garden, foraging in the woods or simply heading out into the rain, it's designed to be thrown on and enjoyed.
The practical waxed cotton exterior hides something rather special inside.
The three-quarter cotton lining features a bespoke design inspired by Angel's Museum of Wallpaper at The Château, a little flash of pattern, colour and history that you only discover when the cape opens.
Five brass buttons and a YKK AquaGuard zip provide robust, weather-resistant fastening, while the wide collar and removable hood give you flexibility depending on the weather.
Everything has been thoughtfully considered, from the practical construction to those little details that make a piece feel special.
Made to Grow Old Gracefully
Waxed cotton isn't supposed to remain pristine. It creases, marks and softens as you use it, developing a patina that makes every cape increasingly individual.
It can also be re-waxed over the years, renewing its water repellency and extending its life. The brass will age alongside it, gradually developing its own natural patina.
This is a piece designed to collect memories as well as marks.
