I’m a Kimono Aficionado!

Walking through a market in East London around 25 years ago, I spotted a black silk kimono gracefully adorned with herons. I loved the idea of wearing this, but my style was rooted in the 1940s and 1950s, with a preference for the wiggle dress. Nonetheless, I couldn't resist trying it on.

At that moment, my style evolved. The elegance and flow of a kimono is like no other. They make you glide across a room and feel like a million dollars, wherever and whenever you wear them. Very quickly, they become my go-to.

Decades later, my collection is vast. My best finds are often pre-loved and from charity shops. I've learnt every nuance of what makes the perfect kimono. The fabric, the fit, the flow, the lapel, the sleeve, and the length. They are all equally important and holistically connected.

Collaboration with Artemis Muse

In 2014, I was introduced to Emma Parker, a force in fashion who was running a company that helped brands get their products to market. I instantly connected with Emma, a fun-loving and strong businesswoman.

We discussed my vision of launching a vintage-style clothing brand for women of my shape that could make us feel like a million dollars! Emma loved the idea, and we started sampling items. My first item was the dress that I wore on our wedding day!

Emma was incredible, and so were the dresses, but with two young children and a Chateau to renovate, we could not take the project any further. Ten years later, our paths crossed again. Emma was now running a successful kimono business, Artemis Muse, with her business partner, Melanie Lucas, and the rest is history!

The Collection

Every design, every detail, every cut has been taken on a journey, tweaked and nurtured to perfection. I want you to have the same feeling I had when I tried on my first kimono and again when I tried on my first Angel Strawbridge kimono.

It will give you the feeling of elegance, style, and glamour with the practicality that's essential for everyday living.

Every kimono is reversible, so you get that feeling twice...just like me.
