Halloween Hallway Décor

There’s no right or wrong way to style a console table for Halloween. Fill it with lots of candles, books, treasures, flowers and foliage, and anything else you have collected along the way!

What you'll need:

• cheese cloth and zip ties
• blue tac
• twine / raffia
• feather crow birds
• dried flowers and foliage
• vase / jar / container (does not need to be waterproof)
• chicken wire if you don’t have a floristry frog
• scissors / secateurs
• plant stand
• candlesticks and candles
• books
• glass domes
• any other ornaments to style the table

Step 1.

Tie up the cheesecloth fabric using zip ties and a bit of blue tac. The fabric is super light and can be held up with minimal support. Tie it back in bunches using raffia ribbon. This fabric can be hung in doorways or simply layered on a wall.

Step 2.

Hang two pieces of cheesecloth on a mirror and then tie it to the sides with raffia ribbon to continue the dramatic mood.

Step 3.

Create your console table display by stacking old books as plinths and candlesticks grouped together to fill the space. Lighting is perfect for creating a spooky atmosphere. You can use battery powered candles and tealights for safety if needed.

Step 4.

Fill glass domes with dried flowers. Drape a small piece of cheesecloth over them the top to create a backdrop, highlighting the curiosities inside.

Step 5.

Perch the feather crow birds on objects and scatter some foliage across the table.

Step 6.

Take a giant vase and stuff it with a ball of chicken wire which will hold your stems in place whether you choose to use dried or fresh flowers. Arrange at various heights and groupings.

Step 7.

Take your time and stand back to look at the arrangement. Then add or take away until you are happy with your arrangement. Have fun and be dramatic – let the flowers explode from the vase!

Step 8.

When creating little vignettes like this think about the whole picture. Use the full height of the space by adding little groups to the floor.
