Create the base of the Halloween Wreath using birch twigs from a garden centre and a vine wreath which you can buy from craft stores. Using secateurs, cut down each birch twig to smaller lengths and pushed them straight into the vine wreath. Make sure they go into the wreath deep enough and that each twig is entangled under the vine in at least two points to ensure it is held in place. Fan the twigs out and fill the whole wreath.

Étape 2.

To make the butterflies, draw and cut out a butterfly shape in various sizes using cardboard.

Étape 3.

Using the cardboard butterfly shapes, cut out the same shapes in fabric making sure you cut at least 1cm extra to fray the edges. Use a quick unpick to fray the edges of the fabric and then cut any longer threads off with scissors.

Étape 4.

Use fabric glue to cover one side of the cardboard butterfly and stick the fabric down making sure it’s nice and smooth.

Étape 5.

Cut a piece of floristry wire and fold it in half to make the butterfly antenna. Sellotape the wire to the back of the butterfly and then Sellotape the end of the embroidery thread to the back.

Étape 6.

Wrap the thread around the body of the butterfly several times and then take the thread to the back and Sellotape it in place. Cut the thread end down to the Sellotape.

Étape 7.

Curl the end of the wire and repeat the process across various butterfly sizes so you have a balanced range to work with. Hot glue gun each of the butterflies to the wreath by dabbing a small blob of glue to the back of the butterfly. Place it onto the wreath and hold until it dries

Étape 8.

You can place some of the smaller butterflies onto some of the thicker twigs around the edge of the wreath so that it looks like a natural position for the butterfly to land.
Add as many butterflies as you like to get the effect you are looking for.
