Make Beautiful Bunting

There’s nothing quite like bunting to bring a bit of joy and vintage charm to any celebration.

You Will Need:
• Fabric scraps (cotton works best – think florals, stripes, old shirts or pillowcases!)
• Bias binding or ribbon (about 2-3 metres depending on how long you want your bunting)
• Scissors
• Pins
• Sewing machine or needle and thread
• Cardboard for a triangle template
• Pencil or fabric chalk

Step 1.

Draw a triangle on cardboard – we recommend about 6 inches wide at the top and 7 inches tall. Cut it out. Fold your fabric in half (right sides together), then trace around the triangle template. Cut out your triangles – each flag needs two pieces. You’ll need about 10-12 for a standard-length bunting.

Step 2.

Sew each pair of triangles together along the two long sides, leaving the top open. Turn them the right way out and press them with an iron to make them nice and crisp.

Step 3.

Lay your bunting flags along the bias binding, spacing them evenly. Fold the binding over the raw edge at the top of each flag and pin in place. Sew along the entire length of the bias binding, making sure to catch the top of each flag securely.

Step 4.

Drape your bunting across walls, trees, tables or even over doorways – instant party magic, Chateau-style!

Top Tip: Mix and match colours, patterns and textures – bunting should feel collected and loved, just like your favourite vintage finds.
