Create a Mounted Indoor Living Wall

Bring some peace and wellbeing into the home with an indoor living wall inspired by The Chateau’s Botanical Suite. Kate from @resinn_ shows us how she made her own.

What you'll need:

• 1.8m x 60cm garden trellis
• 2.4m of dowling cut down into 40mm blocks screws & plugs
• Handsaw
• Drill
• Plant pots with hooks or buckets with handles
• Tea light lanterns
• Battery operated tea lights
• Garden twine
• Scissors
• Lots and lots of plants

Step 1.

Using a saw cut the 40mm dowling into shorter lengths of 40mm. These will act as brackets to hang the trellis from the wall.

Step 2.

Pre-drilled a small pilot hole through each dowel. Then drill a hole into the wall after marking with pencil various points where the trellis will be attached to the wall.

Step 3.

To make sure the trellis is secure, plug each hole in the wall and then attach the dowling to the wall with a screw.

Step 4.

You can place as many dowel pieces as you like to hold the trellis securely to the wall.

Step 5.

Take your trellis and stretch it out across the wall in front of the dowels. Using nails and a hammer to attach the trellis to the dowels.

Step 6.

As well as hanging plants to the trellis, sprinkle in some garden lanterns using some twine and battery operated tealights.

Step 7.

Hang the lanterns onto the cross points of the trellis using the twine. Tie a double knot and finish off with a bow.

Step 8.

Metal planters with hooks are easy for hanging the plants. They hook straight onto the trellis and can be moved around.

If you make this we'd love to see it. You can share it on The Escape to The Chateau Fan Club Facebook page or tag us on Instagram @the_chateau_tv.
