Warm Cider with Calvados

Autumnal colours and the rich bounty of apples inspire this drink. You have to make this recipe your own, with your preferred cider, your chosen mix of spices and apples and the apple cider you love the most.

What You’ll Need
• 2 x 75ml bottles sweet cider
• 125ml (4fl oz) Calvados (or apple brandy)
• 3 tbsp soft brown sugar
• 2–3 cinnamon sticks, bashed (plus a few extra to decorate)
• finely grated zest of 1 orange
• finely grated zest of 1 lemon

Serves 6-8

Step 1.

Measure the cider, Calvados, brown sugar, bashed cinnamon sticks and half the orange and lemon zest into a saucepan. Place over a medium heat and bring to the boil, stirring, then reduce the heat and simmer very gently for just 2 minutes.

Step 2.

Remove from the heat and leave to cool for 10-15minutes.

Step 3.

Strain the cider into glasses and divide the remaining pared orange and lemon zest between them.

Step 4.

Serve warm with a cinnamon stick to stir.
