1. The Promoter
The Promoter is THE CHATEAU PUBLISHING LIMITED, ESP COLOUR LIMITED, MILLBUCK CLOSE, SWINDON, SN2 8XU (CP).
2. The competition
2.1. The Title of the competitions: The "Dare To Do It" at Home Competitions.
2.1.1 Consisting of 3 separate competitions;
(a) Wellbeing – send us any wellbeing story (written by you) that you like. It may be that you have finally mastered your sun salutations by practicing yoga in your living room, or you’ve dug out your paints and easel and got creative with all the extra time at home. Maybe you’ve even challenged yourself to get through those DIY projects you've been meaning to start, that have niggled you for years… Basically anything that’s a good news story.
(b) Book Writing - write anything you like (except for cookbooks, children’s books and gardener’s journals (or similar)), no max or min length but it must be all your own work. All you have to do is send over your manuscript (don't worry, there will be time for tweaking and editing) and we'll choose our 6 favourites for shortlisting. Then it'll be up to the public to decide the winner.
As cookbooks, children's books and a gardener’s journal are already in the works for publication by CP, these won't be considered, but that still leaves masses of scope from Novellas to Encyclopaedias…
(c) Christmas Card Design - send us in a designed Christmas card in the size 148x148mm. Again, it must be all your own work. The cards will be sold in multipacks, so there will be up to 6 winners for this design.
2.2. The Prizes
2.2.1 Wellbeing; The prize for the winner is a night for 2 people at The Chateau, staying in our gorgeous Honeymoon Suite, with dinner hosted and cooked by Dick and Angel Strawbridge. The winner must organise and pay for their own travel from home to the Chateau. Due to the age of the building there will be a lot of stairs to climb when staying at the Chateau, so wheelchair access is not available and no adaptations for those with a disability are possible.
The date for the stay will be agreed between the winner and CP but is subject always to Chateau availability.
The prize includes return ferry travel with Brittany Ferries (Portsmouth to St Malo) for a car and two passengers, including a cabin. The ferry travel can only be used in combination with the winner’s stay at The Chateau, travel must be taken during 2021 and booking is subject to Brittany Ferries availability at the time of booking. Further details of how to book and other important information will be provided to the winner.
The winner will be responsible for ensuring that you and any person travelling with you are available to travel and hold valid passports, any necessary visas and travel documents for the trip on the travel dates specified.
2.2.2 Book Writing; Your book published and sold through thechateau.tv. CP will organise the design, formatting and any editing to make the Book ready for sale. You must give us the legal rights that we need to publish and sell the book exclusively whilst in production, which will mean signing a formal agreement with us to confirm these rights. This is a requirement for receiving the prize.
You will receive a commission on the sale price of the Book via the CP website to be negotiated with the winner via The Society of Authors (excluding shipping & VAT from the sale price). The commission to you will be calculated and paid, normally within 15 days following the end of every calendar quarter (Jan-March, April-June, July-September, October-December). CP has the right to remove the Book from sale at any time.
2.2.3 Christmas Card Design; Your Christmas Card Design published and sold through thechateau.tv. You must give us the legal rights that we need to use the design exclusively whilst in production. This will mean signing a formal agreement with us to confirm these rights. This is a requirement for receiving the prize.
You will receive 5% commission on the sale price of your individual Christmas Card Design (excluding shipping & VAT from the sale price). The commission to you will be calculated and paid, normally within 15 days following the end of every calendar quarter (Jan-March, April-June, July-September, October-December).
