I’m a Kimono Aficionado!
Walking through a market in the East End of London around 25 years ago, I spotted a black silk kimono gracefully adorned with herons. I loved the idea of wearing this, but my style was very much 1940s and '50s wiggle dresses and jackets. Nonetheless, I could not resist trying it on. At that moment, my style evolved. The elegance and flow of a Kimono is like no other. They make you glide across a room and feel a million dollars, whatever the day or whatever you are wearing. Very quickly, they became my go-to.
Decades later, my collection is vast. My best finds are pre-loved items from charity shops. I’ve learnt every nuance of what makes the perfect Kimono. The fabric, the fit, the flow, the lapel, the sleeve, the length. They are all equally important and holistically connected.
Every design, every detail, every cut has been taken on a journey, tweaked and nurtured to perfection. I want you to have the same feeling I did when I tried on my first Kimono, and again when I tried on the first Angel Strawbridge Kimono. I hope it will give you that feeling of elegance, style and glamour with the practicality that’s essential for us working women! Every Kimono is reversible, so you get that fabulous feeling twice.
