In 2014, we stumbled across Chateau de la Motte Husson, a derelict 19th-century fairy tale chateau in the Pays de la Loire with 45 rooms, a moat, orangery, 12 acres, seven outbuildings and huge potential for a new life in France. Moving to a new home in a foreign country in the middle of winter, with no electricity, sewerage or heating, and two very young children in tow, could be considered foolish. But we fell in love with the Chateau instantly. After decades of neglect, the Chateau needed hard work and dedication to bring it back to life. It was a renovation on the grandest of scales, but we were up for the challenge and set to work on our dream.
Our mums wanted copies of our programmes, and we wanted to put a copy away for Arthur & Dorothy! We still can't believe we've made nine series, and documenting our lives for the children to watch when they are older has always inspired us to carry on!
A part of the process was getting every episode officially certified by the BBFC. Who would have thought it was a 12? We are blaming Dick for saying a naughty word‚ or two.
