Jam Jar Toppers for Preserves

As a family, we love preserving and, with a little bit of care and crafting magic, you can transform a simple but very tasty jar of garden goodness into a special gift. You can also create lovely table settings with mini jars of honey, some labels and these toppers. You only need a very small piece of fabric, so I keep all scraps. Dorothy’s favourite is the one she made with a pair of Dick’s torn pants. For some reason that’s still untouched in our preserve cupboard!

Top Tip
When you are making homemade preserves, don’t forget to add nice labels so that everyone knows what is in the jars! Be sure to include the date the preserve was made.

If your fabric scraps are plain, decorate them before securing them to the jar by painting small fruits or veggies using fabric paint or ink stamps.
