How To Make A Bread Loaf Bag

Ideal for picnics or simply bringing home your bread from the shop! Make your own reusable baguette and bread bag with this crafty ‘how-to’ using fabric from The Chateau.

What You'll Need:

• Max 1m of fabric (we use Honeycomb by The Chateau)
• Matching thread
• Scissors
• Tape measure
• Pins & sewing machine
• Cord for drawstring fastening
• Safety pin for threading

Step 1.

Cut two rectangles big enough to carry a chopping board and loaf of bread (use 40 x 60cm as a guide). Pin down the sides and the bottom of the bag and stitch them together using a straight stitch and a zigzag to prevent fraying.

Step 2.

Fold the raw edge over twice at the top of the bag to make the opening. Stitch the opening hem down, leaving a 1.5cm gap at both sides of the opening so you can thread the cord through.

Step 3.

Take the cord and pin a safety pin to the end to help thread it through the opening channel. Place the safety pin in first and pull the cord through the opening on one side of the bag, then thread a second cord through the other side of the bag.

Step 4.

Take the two cord ends sticking out at both sides of the bag and knot them together. Trim the ends down neatly.
