Christmas Decorations: How-to Make a Wallpaper Museum Stocking

The Chateau’s beautifully decorated mantelpiece is a key feature of every Strawbridge Christmas. This festive display combines homemade crafts with the Wallpaper Museum wallpaper for a striking centrepiece.

What You'll Need:

Step 1.

Create your stocking shape by tracing around an existing stocking. You can also draw the shape free hand to any size and shape you like.

Step 2.

Cut a front and back piece and placed right sides together before stitching them together on the sewing machine. Trim the seam allowance down to 0.5cm. Turn the stocking inside out and use an iron to press the seam flat around the edge.

Step 3.

Roll the top edge of the stocking inside. Use a straight stitch to hold it in place. Add a twine trim around the top of the stocking and then layer a fringe trim over the top. Attach these using a straight stitch or hand stitch them in place.

Step 4.

Cut a strip of fabric approximately 2cm wide and 10cm long for the tab. Attach this with a needle and thread, hiding the stitches under the fringe trims. Fill your stockings with all sorts of goodies and finish with a piece of tissue paper poking out the top.

If you make this, we'd love to see it. You can share it on the Escape To The Chateau Fan Club Facebook Group or tag us on Instagram @escape.to.the.chateau
